Destiny Deacon

Another discovery on my MCA visit - the work of Destiny Deacon - this follows having recently seen the current film Nightengale - also powerful.

VR

I had an urge for a gallery visit so just dropped in to the MCA in Sydney. Fortunately, it was the last day of the Shaun Gladwell exhibition, unfortunately for you it was the last day of the Shaun Gladwell exhibition because what I am talking about won’t be there tomorrow.

In the last room was a virtual reality installation,

I have nothing to show since it happens in a square marked on the floor and all we see is a person with a headset moving on strange ways.

There is a first time for everything and I’m glad this was my first proper VR experience. It isn’t just about a world that isn’t there but more philosophical about the reality and limitations we create as well as the space expands and contracts with other spaces on the other side.

At some moments you feel quite constrained, of course you can walk through the perceived barriers.

These are the credits:

The brains

history

Lots of jobs are fun but there is nothing like seeing your work as a huge billboard all over town, this was the first one which was an ‘out there’ concept for a home decoration shopping centre. This one means “It sticks with me’ the wallpaper dress.

new site in the making

I am finally getting around to updating my site so I can have a simpler interface that includes client proofing, blogs and a store all in one place. This ‘into the future image was taking with my first mirrorless camera, the quest for powerful and compact.
